True Health
Have you ever thought about what true health means to you and your family? What is your definition of true health? Dorland's Medical Dictionary states that true health is a state of optimal physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease. In other words, health is not limited to how you feel, but rather refers to your level of function and performance as a whole individual.
Webster's Dictionary outlines three components to the health equation;
- Wholeness
- Function
- Time.
In order to achieve optimal health an individual must have all anatomical parts of the body functioning 100% all of the time. Because we can't replace parts of the body that have been removed and we can't control time, function is the only part of the health equation that we can change. Improving the function of your body is the key to health.
According to Gray's Anatomy, the anatomical textbook for all health professionals, the Nervous System controls and coordinates the function of all parts of the body and adapts the body to its environment. Wouldn't you agree that it is important to keep your nervous system functioning at its best and to make sure that nothing interferes with its function? It is my goal as your chiropractor to check the function of your Nervous System and make sure that there is no interference to prevent your maximum health potential, allowing for true health.
